Well, Mr. Stark certainly outdoes me…
I went to see Iron Man a few months ago at the ScotiaBank Cinema (formerly known as the Paramount Cinema).. as a sidenote, the ScotiaBank cinema has been my current fetish favorite theatre in Montreal, for the comfortable seats, THX / Pro-Logic audio and perfect screens. It’s the best overall cinema experience, from a technical point of view, in Montreal. If you differ in opinion, do leave a comment.
Now, about Iron Man… first of all, it is very violent and gory - especially the opening combat scenes in somewhereistan… also, Robert Downey Jr is absolutely perfect and brilliant in this movie.
Now I’m not a big fan of over-the-top superhero movies, but trust me, if you’re a gadget / tech freak you MUST see this movie, if only for the scenes of his ultra-uber-technohome with the translucent LCD glass windows in his (!) bedroom …. or were they transparent OLED?
That and his macho womanizer role at the beginning is just played to perfection. Robert Downey Jr has really come a long way in this movie.
I’ll be most definitely be watching it on DVD or VOD…
BTW, one final note about the ScotiaBank theatre, they do great custom preparation of popcorn, with layered butter or topping as you desire.

Well.. Charlton Heston was one of those iconic figures that quickly managed to fall from my graces.. so to speak, when he came out with his stance on gun control. His infamous “from my cold, dead hands” speech with regards to his 2nd amendment right to bear arms and unabashed zeal for the NRA really overshadowed any respect I had for his illustrious acting career.
That being said, while I may not believe in the blind acceptance of a right to bear arms, I most certainly believe in the First Amendment … so
Rest in Peace, Mr. Heston.

Saw a great movie this evening and would watch it again … most happily and most hopefully not alone.
Across the Universe is a musical collage of many Beatles tracks perfectly melded into a luscious story that is essentially a love story. Indeed, it transposes classic tracks from the Fab 4 to a beautiful (yet far from sappy) love story…

I intially was hesitant about how well Beatles tracks could be so purely used as a framework for a film and yet.. it creates a magical and engaging experience.
Definitely worth watching with the person you love.
Mmmm.
It was a quiet Sunday evening while preparing for my trip to Ottawa and taking down some decorations from the Christmas tree and…
There is something I really like about Mose Persico, and I usually just let his Entertainment Spotlight show stay on the TV because it comes after the CTV Montreal News.
