Well the General Synod of the Church of England today carried the motion by the Bishop of Gloucester to “affirm that the wish of its majority is for women to be admitted to the episcopate”… meaning that women can now become Bishops in the Church of England.

There is, of course, a clause that allows for “existing structures” with the church, who based on “theological convictions” to opt out of having women as bishops….

The three houses of Synod voted quite overwhelming, but far from unanimously, to pass the motion:

House of Bishops - For 28, Against 12, Abstentions 1

House of Clergy - For 124, Against 44, Abstentions 4

House of Laity - For 111, Against 68, Abstentions 2

Hmm…

So today is Epiphany for Christians, and I spent it quietly at home cleaning up and reflecting a bit on the wonderful holiday time spent with Tristan, Zachary and my mom…

Unfortunately my Chevy Venture seems to have fallen victim to the DEX-Cool coolant system failure and seems to have damaged the engine head - by eating away at the lower intake manifold gasket. This is based on a preliminary estimate by a mechanic who had a look at it on Friday… meanwhile it limps around barely, with no heating, burning antifreeze and the check engine light flashing. In other words, don’t drive her!

Alors… once again je suis à pied, en attendant que je trouve une solution pour réparer le véhicule… it seems the repair is $800-1200 and there are even DEX-Cool class action lawsuits against GM in the US and Canada claiming that GM knew there was an inherent design flaw in the DEX-Cool coolant and cooling system.

I’ll be retroactively posting a few pics ad memories from the holidays… :)

Yes, something is seriously wrong. Yes, sumtin’ wong - to propagate another racial / cultural / linguistic stereotype.

But then again, is it really ? Yes it is.
